A new drug that can regrow teeth is being trialed on humans starting in September 2024 at Kyoto University Hospital in Japan. The drug, successfully tested on ferrets and mice, works by deactivating a protein that suppresses tooth growth. The trial will initially focus on 30 men missing molars, followed by a second phase targeting children with congenital tooth deficiency. The hope is that this revolutionary treatment, if successful, could be widely available to patients with missing teeth by 2030.
